Are the songs always obvious ?

grimtraveller

If only for a moment.....
When you first hear the files/tapes you are sent for mixing, with all the 'information' given, is the song immediately obvious ? Or do you sometimes have to craft it out ?
Have there been times when an artist has felt that too much of your vision was in the delivered mix and not enough of theirs ? How do you go about deciding what to include and what to leave out ?

I read something where he said that a song that he mixed was sent to him with 153 tracks of instruments and vocals. With all that, would the song be obvious ? I don't know. I'd be interested to know what another person who does this for a living thought.

I've got to be honest, I do find that funny. Genuinely. He'll be along to answer all our questions. He didn't answer any of mine !

Do I get my money back ?
