Hi everyone. I'm just curious if anyone has one of these hard disc recorders (the D-108). If so, how do you like it? And what are you using as a mixer? Anybody using the Fostex VM200 digital mixer?

Peace, Jim

Hey Jim,

I dont have that model, but I do have a Fostex FD-8 with 250/Zip Drive and I really love it. It has the mixer built in. The main reason I chose the Fostex was simplicity. Also it does not compress the data.

Hello again Jim

Thanks for the reply to my posting in Newbies...

Regarding the D-108 i`m sure it is like my VR800

8Trk simultaneous Digital Recording via ADAT Optical, 16 Additional Tracks, SCSI Port to add extra drives/zips/Jazz etx, Non-compressed Recording at 44.1KHz, Copy/Paste Functions, Track Exchange, Audio Scrub, Digital Track In, Word Out & ASYNC, MTC Slave, MIDI Clock&SPP Out & MMC, 99 Locate Points stored in memory, Variable Pitch Recording, 99 Song Programs....

As for the VM200 - I think it really rocks for the very Basic Stuff I have been doing on it since I got it.
Motorised Faders, 32-bit processing, Direct Pan and EQ for each channel, 4-Band Parametric EQ on 16 input channels, 2 integrated DSP Effects processors.....

Seems to be easy to use (apart from getting the MIDI to work!! :-}
