Vocals to midi?
Has there ever been anything invented that will allow you to sing a simple melody into a microphone and convert it to midi notes?
I'm talking about some kind of VST Plug-In for Cubase... where I could just hum a few notes, have it detect what the notes are and record convert them to midi notes. (...looking for a quick way to lay down a keyboard solo I have in my head without having to hunt and peck on the keyboard for 2 days)

I believe Melodyne Celemony will do this. They have a free demo somewhere on the web.
There used to be a relatively cheap ($250ish new) hardware module that would do this - I remember seeing it in places like the Penney's catalog. Probably 12-15 years ago. Don't know how well it tracked... Daf |

There are quite a few that claim they can do that. I've used one with single note guitar stuff and got ok results.
