SP B1 for Home Rec & Karaoke ?

Hi,

I'm a newbie in this whole recording thing and I needed some advice on buying a new mic.

I have a Shure PG48 and a Shure SM57 which I use for Karaoke vocals and small time hobby home recording of vocals.

I've been lurking on these forums for a quite a while and I saw quite a few good posts on the SP B1 mic, so I was wondering if I could augment my mic cabinet ;-) with it.

My main concern was if it was too delicate to be used for karaoke (holding it in the hand, etc.)

Any help will be welcome.

My friend, the B1, in my estimation is definitely not the right choice as a karaoke mic.

In order to capture the truest essenses and nuances of the karaoke vocal, one must select the finest of instruments. Think of how vital it is to make that stunning impression on people as you belt out "I've got friends in low places," or "Crocodile Rock."

Would you trust those drunken, party-time classics to just any old mic?

What you want in a karaoke mic is to help put yourself in to "stun" mode. Make the gentlemen sweat and the ladies swoon. You should be looking here:

ha ha chessrock, that was funny :-). But maybe I'll still buy a B1 and use it for my recording stuff.

My other gear is a Yamaha MG 10/2 mixer and an Alesis Ineko effects unit. All this goes into my Creative Audigy sound card with n-Track software.

Planning to upgrade one at a time (if I can upgrade my talent also at the same time ;-)).
