open wavelab in sx?

...someone please tell me that I can open wavelab from within sx...with vst I got very used to simply dbl-clicking on a track a couple of times in order to open it in wavelab, make some copies, make a couple of quick cuts, etc...how can I set up sx to do the same thing?...thanks.

No external editor can be used within SX
The reason it was taken out was that it would break the undo history.

I didn't know I could open Wavelab in cubase vst? How do I do that? This could save me a lot of time. When dbl clicking it just opens the cubase editor..

chap 28 of Getting into the Details covers the set-up to conveniently open Wavelab in VST…it says to select Audio from the Functions menu, then select “External Wave Editor” from the sub-menu that appears…make sure “use internal Wave Editor” is un-checked…clk Browse to locate and choose your editor—i.e. Wavelab…yeh, I miss it very much already…you know, it’s kind of strange that steinberg decided sx should forfeit the availability of a perfectly good wave editor (wavelab) in order to secure or stabilize the ultimate(?) editor--“infinite undo”…who needs “infinite” undo anyway?…who needs or can actually "use" infinite anything?...no one in their right-mind wants to crawl back into the womb…practically speaking, each of us could at some time be faced with a situation that is best resolved by a clean-wipe of the hard-drive and a bunch of reinstalls, but even this seems to fall short of “infinite undo”…as a matter of fact, I’ve always had “infinite-undo”—I call it the trashcan--the bottom of which is markedly plain and clearly discernable from whatever heaps of infinite bs that the world's marketeers and advertisers intend that I "should" desire.

when will steinberg catch on?--one of the most attractive features a software package can offer is "customization"...we want to be able to "choose from" an infinite list of possibilities, not simply sign-on to a "finite" list of features that are labeled "infinitely powerful" by someone only vaguely aware of how we intend to use the software...

need some help here, please...
...…I'm well into the sx learning-curve by now and beginning to lose hope that ignorance is my biggest problem…I have a few questions so far, but I'll just post em' one at a time...
1) it seems that each time I've used "Merge from Clipboard" the resulting paste has lost some of it’s level--roughly 3dB...by itself this might not be a big deal; however, I soon discovered that simply raising the level back up by clicking on the handy-dandy(?) Gain feature unerringly introduces distortion...any suggestions?…thanks.

So I tried this 'external wave editor' thing and now Wavelab does open when I dbl click on a track. The problem is however, after I edited that track in Wavelab I can not save it. I always get this error message saying "The file could not be renamed. Please make sure that the disk is not write protected and that the file is not already open".
Anyone?

hello Laynestaley...after you've made your edits, you should be able to just clk on Save (not Save As) under File without any problems...wavelab should respond immediately by "writing" the the new/edited file to disk in a matter of a few seconds, unless the file huge...make sure the file you're intending to save is open and "on top" of any other wavs you may have open...once the file is saved/written to disk using it's original name, you should be able to save it under a different name as many times as you need to...after your save command(s) has/have been processed, simply close the wav and cubase should respond by creating the new/edited file and opening back up to it's editor...then just close the editor and cubase should be back up with your new wav in it's proper place.

...you're welcome...sorry it took so long...been set back lately by problems with the state...at least they let me out of jail...eventually they'll come around even further...gonna have to write a song about it...so, can anyone answer my question about the distortion that sx like to add whenever I simply raise the level a few dB?--mentioned earlier in this thread...thanks.
