Actually someone who purchased the book told me about this site and thought it would be helpful to others which I'm sure it would be. At least it will be for those who are serious about careers in the music business and are not just doing it as a hobby.

I find the sarcasm extremely unnecessary. If you are not interested in the book you do not have to purchase it. Furthermore, if you read my original reply more carefully you would see that I wrote that someone who had purchased the book told me about THIS site and suggested I mention it on here. I have never been on this site before as most of my clients actually have record deals. The book is to help the smaller individual who would like to learn more about the administration part of the recording business.

And lastly, spam is when you send out mass emails to people that were unsolicited. This is simply an informative post on an obsure website.

don't want to be rude, but this do look like spam.

When you just recommended the book and gave some extra info it was ok. But you give advice on how to pay immediately. It doesn't sound very realistic you haven't got anything to do with this...

Thank you BRETT for your constructive criticism. I actually didnt realize that the phone number wasn't on there for people to get information. Now I'm glad there was no phone number because thus far the rest of the people on this site have been really rude.
I simply typed up the info and threw it on the board as an FYI.

OK Del... I don't wanna sound like a prick or anything, but this is definitely a blatant advertisement! Which we as veteran users of this BBS consider to be the equivalent of Spam. Not in the sense of it being a "mass mailing" but in the sense that it is unwanted/unwelcome.

Here's an example of what would have been an acceptable "FYI":

Hey guys. Check this out... looks like pretty interesting reading material. (Insert link here)

Is solicitation of sales and is unacceptable. It's a matter of etiquette. Also claiming that you got the info from "some person" who (as pointed out) happens to share the same URL as your e-mail does immediately puts your credibility in question. And when working in sales of any kind, your credibility is of paramount importance!

Although your product may be informative and may even possess valuable information, it's not likely you will make any sales here after this incident...

(a) You've stepped over the line as far as what we the community consider to be acceptable behavior.

(b) You went even further to insult our intelligence by pretending to be something that you are most likely not.

Instead of getting upset and/or retaliating, you should walk away with a valuable lesson and not make the same mistake on other BBSs you may join in the future.

Although there may be a sucker born every minute, people today are far more intelligent & educated than when PT Barnum made that observation.
