I don't know about COMPLETELY with Cubase, but go to www.steinberg.net and poke around there. There is a section, I think called the users lounge, or something like that, that talks about who is doing what with Cubase. North American acts aren't terribly well represented, but they have had features on Queensryche for sure. I'm pretty sure I've read stuff about Paul McCartney, Moby, major film-score composers, and very recently, the Scorpions.

Apparently some other German group had a number one song in Europe that was done COMPLETELY with SX, which was talked about on there rather recently. They were unfamiliar to me, though.

Any Other Ideas ??

So far I've not heard any songs that have been done with cubase
completely

It can be home recorded that sounds good

The thing is that I'm thinking about transfering from my VS-1824
to cubase
but i've heard many excellent album done on the VS (one even won grammy) but nothing good that done on cubase

some of you must know where I can find it

thanx

I don't follow your logic at all........

Bruce Springsteen released an album from a PortaStudio, do you not think it was cleaned up big-time at a mastering house?

What does what someone else can do with a recording format matter? All that should matter to you are what YOU can do with it.

It's a tool, the skill is in using recording tools, not the tools themselves.....

Not the format the tool ...

Every disital tool has its audio processing, Eq, buas summing

Its a clear fact that some audio software sounds better than others
And every DIGITAL has its own sound and capabilities

so, I think my question is valid

Once again, I think you're placing your emphasis in the wrong area, but whatever.....!

I use Cubase for editing... the odd track I'll record to Cubase, but it comes via my HD24 (as front-end)

Personally, I don't mix with s/w at all... I mix analog from the HD24.....

Ok, may sound stoopid, but this is a point I often hear, but I'm not sure I get it right. Does that mean that, the DATA itself can sound better in, just an example, in Nuendo than in Cakewalk?? Or it mean that EQs, dynamics, plugins, etc. are better one than in some other?

I'm sorry, maybe, my ears/or my brain is f**ked, but if I record a completely dry, lets say a snare hit, in Cubase, Cakewalk, Samplitude, or whatever software, same samplerate/bit, same mic/pre/etc. without any effects or dyn. processing of course, each one in 1000 PCs with different softwares, it will sounds the exact same thing to me!!!

Am I off? I f I am, please, explain to me WHY!!??

Yes ! the data itself can sound better !!

Maybe not if you record only one or two track but when
you have 24 tracks you start to notice it

this is why there's software that more capable for audio work
and some don't

er... no.......

The DSP algorithms can vary, and consequently *may* change the sound, or bad clocking can change the s/w's interpretation of the data, but the data itself is a constant...... period.

Yea, I see what your asking, but i'm thinking that the way your delivering it is a bit off base.

Your basically looking for some demo that will allow you to make the decision whether or not to make the move. Well, yea. I could get you a demo of what I record. But, I suck. So, you'd be subject to my crappy recording, crappy playing, crappy mixing, and crappy editing. So, I don't think that i'm gonna rush out and represent the community. Secondly, there are several demos available on the steinberg site that were recorded solely in Cubase. That should help you in your decision. I know several local studios that use Cubase for their recording package, and that's why I chose it. I was paying the studio, and getting familiar with recording and the software. Ended out cutting out the middle man. I can say that I have had studio time with Protools, Cubase, Tascam HD, Fostex HD and the recording medium differed very slightly. (Almost nonexistent w/ the PT and Cubase).

The differences lie in the quality and ability of the reverbs/compressors/effects/ etc.. and the abilities of the engineer running the thing. I have Cubase, and have never gotten close to one of my studio recording that was done in Cubase.

Exclamation

BlindCowboy,

Dont wanna say your wrong...I know maybe I am, but I it's so, I want to know why.

I'll simply ask:

How can you compare Cubase with ProTools, or anything else from different studios?? Were these different studios in the same room, with the same monitors, thru the same hardware, etc??

How can you compare this? On different Cds, witch were made in witch different CD burner..etc etc etc? Please, explain to me bro!

And yup, I know I'm talking right about the base of all this audio/data/thing/quality/digital. And I'm pretty shure it's the way to start to understand something! Am I right?

Are you right?? Dunno, explain to me dude

Question

hmmm...dunno. Maybe if I tell you that I read (you probabely also read it) the last Korn album was made in Nuendo may give you an idea. I bought this album to hear how it sounds... no comments.

Sounds too good/clean for this band hehe. I was a Korn "fan" in ...1996 or so, with their first and second albums. Then oops...

Anyway, I read a few places that they were proud to have worked with Nuendo blablabla..(dunno if it was made in Nuendo from A to Z) so I bought it. Never listen to the end.

Hey, if someone can let me know how Tool's Lateralus album was done, I'll be glad to know!

All I know the signer recorded all the lyrics at his home, with ProTools. Witch setup? dunno..

Fred

Arrow Dont read this if you have something else to do!

can listen to this song. 100% Cubase. I'm not proud I made, drum are a bit too loud but hey, I mixed it like I was asked to.

www.hzzone.com/temp_audio/ImUniversal.mp3

You know the UFC? Well in Canada there is a similar organisation called UCC (Universal Combat Challenge). I had biiiiiig problems with them, they were using YULTRA, a song of my ex-band as their theme, so, a lot on tv, radio, etc. and I didnt know that. A friend of mine called me and told me about the situation, so I finally contact the UCC's president, we made something clear cuz I'm not a fight/violence fan. He finally asked me to make a new song, similar to Yultra, for... well...well paid. So I accepted. Thing I should never done.

Anyway. He finally used a lot the new song I made called "I'm Universal" (I'm still not having paid! in fact I had 10% of the $ we signed for) I even get to a "fight evening" (dunno how to call thing sorry) just to ear my song and see whats' going on there... The only cool thing I saw was 12 almost naked nice women dance on my song, on the stage in the entract. was funny...

Then I tried sooooooo many times to contact this guy, I'm not kidding, sometimes I left more than 40 messages/day on his damn cellular. And you CANT know where this guy is living.
You ask him where he lives? One day he tell you a city, next day another.

I had to call him from public phones to talk to him. And when I get him he was saying like "oh dont worry Fred, the check is already mailed!" then 3 days later, call him back "the damn check came back I wrote the wrong adress hahaha" damn stupid moron I HATE HIM! hum..hum. sorry. I took about a year to completele turn all this off.
---------------------------------------------------------
Ok, guys, I know you dont care with all this, I'm even not in the right forum...but hey, makes me feel good, this happen about 2 year and a half
---------------------------------------------------------
I finally 100% protect my song, I mean not just only mailed me a copy blablabla, (this was already done), It cost 65$ CAD to get it 100% protected. Then, the next time, I joined him, you wont beleive all the sh*t I gave to this guy. Yes, he's a fighter. No I'm really not! But I was so pissed off and tierd about all this. I made him signe a legal contract about if the UCC use, once again "I'm Universal" etc etc etc, this company will be in deep sh*t.

Ya know what? I still dunno if it have a link with me, but, about 4 or 5 week later, UCC became TKO. UCC doesnt exist anymore. TKO cant really use the song I made for the UCC cuz the term "UCC" was used a few time by the pay per view (or viewers choice dunno) guy who came recorded some vocals. But, It wont supprised me If the TKO is using YULTRA, the song of my ex-band.

Guys, I can talk about this all day long. Sooo many things happend. I even been menaces by the UCC! Damn! Some fighters!! I'm In Montreal, Quebec, and once he was in Florida and told me I was lucky that an X fighter wasen't with me!!! DAMN! Stupid... PAY ME I'LL STOP CALLING YOU! anyway. I still dont watch or take care about what the TKO is using as a music theme. If it's my song, a so shitty year will follow, dont want to get thru this again.

Ok I couldnt resist. I just went to their new website. They have a new song. I feel better. So this post have a reason to exist!!!

Yeah!!! I really feel better now. hmm.. but I still hate this guy. hehe I wont post his picture, but.. if you wanna see him, feel free to look at the www.tkozone.tv -who we are/president- section and spit on your screen. It's almost what I do when I see this guy on TV. I HATE HIM!

Thank you every one. Thank you.

Fred

Now I wonder how many will say I should have post this in the right section will appear :|

Man, your song is inspirating enough for keeping on "fighting" against Cubase forever.

Your essay is not lees inspirating though. But I didn´t want to take a look to the president of TKO ´cause my office mate is right in front of me. I never learned how to spit properly, and I am afraid I would enter in conflict hit him (once again) if I miss the orientation.

Sounds like shit to you, dont like the music style or dont like Cubase..?

Not a super mix for sure. And huge arena subwoofer dont help the situation. Well the famous guy I love so much was right behind me while I was mixing so I followed what he was asking for...and, do you thing I cared about what I was doing?

Anyway hehe, thx for the comments!

I still feel better!!! heheh

Today will be a nice day.

Oops. Didn't mean to compare the quality of the packages, yada, yada, yada.....

What I was trying to say, is that even though i've recorded on several different mediums, and packages, the talent of the engineers have yeilded a similar product from the three studios that I have gone to. One was Cubase, one Protools, and one Hard disk.

Though understanding that there are several distinct differences in the products, my recordings have showed extreme consistency between the three.

Yea, I think thats what I was going for.

What I find interesting is that you are thinking about making the move to Cubase but someone recorded a grammy winning song or album on the unit you use, so you want to hear what Cubase can do to see if it compares. If you want to hear grammy potential artists who used Cubase then you should go to Steinbergs site, but you don't want to do that. Someone brought up Korn recording an album using Nuendo with which SX shares the audio engine, but that isn't good enough for you. Instead you want to hear some home recorders mp3's? How is that going to tell you if it compares to your "grammy capable" unit?

What Blue Bear said is the truth. It's not the recorder that is going to make you a grammy hit. It's the person using it.

However...if you want to be spoonfed some links to mp3's made using Cubase I suggest you go to the mp3 clinic and post requesting links to songs made with Cubase. I am sure you will have many replies there. I hope you find what you are after.

I'm sure am reading every single post

I'm dead serious here but I'm very disappointed ...

Don't you guys make music ?
Don't you want to share ?

I ask for recordings and I got only one !! (thanx Kryogh)

I know that on the vsplanet when someone wants to hear some
stuff done on the VS we give him plenty to listen

If over here its too much you could say it from the start
and I'll shut

ps - on steinberg artist's section, you got ppl that uses nuendo,
or using cubase for the road to get Ideas, (like you do on
4-track) and there's two artist that are now in the process of
an album, so you can't really here them
nuendo is not cubase !! its cost over 1000$ and for a good
reasons

I just want to here some tunes done on cubase, not looking
for "grammy" albums
I'm home recorder so I want to see cubase in home
when you're in studio you use outborads most of the time
so you can't really see cubase as the production tool
just wanted to hear some home made albums
