Check out these guitar tracks

A friend had me record this so he could give it to his band and they could learn their parts.
I used a laptop with Audacity, a RNCompressor, and a little Behringer mixer.
I added a little software verb and made it sound stereo.
The playing is not polished becaue its just a sratch track basically - but 'd appreciate any tips on the mix.

Be sure to listen to the clean and distorted parts.

The song is listed as "Guitar"

P.S. The guitarist comlimented my compression scheme as a "work of art"

the recording sounds pretty good and id say the compression sounds good the way you gott, im not as qualified as some of the guys here to give mix advice i hear alot of mistakes on the guitar playing but since you said this is just a scratch track that is irrelevant i guess. also i am listening through a pair of sony dj series cans wrigh now because everyone in my house is sleeping and dont wanna wake my old lady up lol= grumpy old lady/ tim

Comments on the "mix"?????? What mix? How do you mix one instrument? The guitar tone seems OK. Couldn't tell you how it would set in a mix until it was in one.

Like Track rat said, not a mix, maybe you could call it a track setup or something.

diggin in real deep though, since its only one voice. If the strings are new, I'd let more tone out of the guitar. Like turn the pickups up wide open or close to it, then subtract with the tools if needed. It could be in the mp3 conversion, pod sampling, just or older strings, but there`s spots where I`m hearing a lot of chunky pick attack instead of the fuller tone of the guitar when its in the softer playing mode. Its a slight muted sound just under the voice of the string. Don`t hear it so much in the bosted distortion setting. Ohh, the compression seems to be consistent on the track.

thanks for the input. Yeah, it's pretty sloppy and you guys are right, it's not a "mix".

I'm planning on recording the whole band at some point.
I'll post the real mix when it's done.
