Could someone explain to me the step one takes to convert a .wav file to MP3 then to
posting it somewhere on the internet for downloading by friends etc. especially the whole getting access to a ftp site. E-mailing out individual copies just isn't cutting it anymore.

Here's a couple other options for ya ...

MusicMatch is pretty good. It will allow you to mix directly to an mp3, instead of making a wav first or only ripping from CD.

I also just recently downloaded Siren Express from Sonic Foundry and like it very much. I believe you can also mix straight to mp3, but I haven't tried it yet with this software.

As far as posting on the net ... I'd do mp3.com or iuma.com .... either that or just open an account at idrive.com. All these options are free and easy to do.

Good Luck.
