Alot of what makes up a walkin' bass line is based on playin' scales and arpeggios to the chord changes.Throw in chromatic walks to get from one chord to the next.Usually 8th notes or swing 8ths.Sheetmusicplus.com has alot of books on the subject.

I have a book called "The Art of Walking Bass" by Bob Magnusson. It's well written and it comes with a CD with 31 tracks/examples. It teaches blues, II-V-I progressions, intervals, passing tones, chromatic tones, etc. Some of the examples are difficult to play but the theories behind them make sense with this book. It's a common book and easy to find in music stores.

"Building Walking Basslines" by Ed Friedland is good.

Comes with your choice of CD or Tape wich has song exercises mixed with drums down the middle, bass hard left and piano hard right.

With you stereo paning you can take out the piano and hear only drums and bass to learn parts by ear and focus on technique.

Then you can bring the piano back in and play along with the recorded bass.

After you get it going you can pan the recorded bass out of the mix and it is just you walking with the drums and keys.

Pretty darn clever.
