Pre-Amp Problems, Help Please..
I bought my pre-amp which is called "Tube-Pre" from Guitar Center 7-27-03. It worked perfectly fine until 8-26-03. I noticed it would record lower in volume, and it's not amplifying the vocals as well as it had done before. I noticed it would record fine, then inbetween my recording it would cut off then come back on. Now, it won't record that well anymore. This has happened to me two times already, and I bought a new pre-amp each time. I don't want this to happen again. Does anybody have suggestions, know whats wrong, or know any ways I could fix this problem? But, if it can't be fixed, what cautions should I aware next time?

Bring it back..until they give you one that works keep bringing it back!Maybe they got a bad batch of those things.Could be a loose tube..a bunch of things. Also check your cords ect.

Yep. Change the tubes and don't drive 'em so hard. A little dab'll do ya.
It's taken me quite a while to figure out that most of the crap I hear in my live rig happens when I have the preamps too hot. Even when people told me that, it didn't sink in. Last weekend it sunk in. I had the system running great for a soundcheck, and when the vocals kicked in for real, it all went to hell. It was an outdoor Mass, where they don't take kindly to that sort of interruption. Preamps were way too hot. I turned 'em down and - "gee, what a sound." I feel like an idiot. But I ain't likely to ferget that agin...
