Pluging studio

Does anyone have anyone tricks for giving your studio a shameless plug? I am trying to generate some more buisness for my meager home studio, and cant seem to come up with any good ideas.

Obvious, but have you put flyers in your local rehearsal studios or anywhere else muso's hang out? Offer discounted rates to their users or even a kickback to the rehearsal place (which is perfectly ethical and legal).

Local newspapers (sorry don't know if this works where you are) are always keen on local interest stories, and when it comes to laziness journo's are in a league of their own. So do some PR, which basically entails identifying the appropriate scribbler, finding an angle and giving them a story on a plate. For example you could run a competition for best local songwriter and get the paper to run a feature on it (free demo for the best or whatever). They generally love that kind of stuff.

Otherwise, actively networking, perhaps offering something or other - business is the art of the hustle and you just need to get into that tree shaking kind of mindset.

Good luck

I have left flyers at just about every local music store, and anywhere else anyone would let me leave one. How do I find where local rehersal places are? I havnt found any in the phone book. I have posted some at the local performing arts centers. I have even put some by the audio equipment at Wal-mart. What else can I do? The newspaper idea is a goodone, I will look into that.

So I am going to host the 1st annual City of McDonough's Battle of the Bands. 1st prize is a free 3 song demo. I am talking to city hall and the newspapers tommorow. Wish me luck, and feel free to add some advice for me.
