Newbie Hello!

I've been lurking for a week or so and I think it's high time I introduce myself.

I'm really impressed with homerecording.com. I keep finding myself coming back for more. Not sure why, but when it comes to me, I'll let everyone know.

I've been wanting to record some original music for some time and decided that now's the time. Based on advice from friends, I purchased a Digi001 and a PodXt this summer and am venturing into home recording for the first time. I've had the opportunity to record in a "real" studio on three occassions. I play guitar, bass and sing. I also like making strange sounds come out of my digital keyboard. I've been writing songs for a good long time and even got paid for one of them two years ago. That's my lone financial success story regarding my music. Maybe someday I'll share stories of touring the midwest as the guitar player for an Elvis Presley impersonator. Those were the days, my friend.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning a lot from those kind enough to share their expertise. Thanks to each of you in advance. I hope to get to a point where I can return the favor sometime. Until then, feel free to rag on me for my decision to run my Digi001/Pro Tools 6.1 setup on Windows XP or my decision to record guitars direct or for the simple fact that I'm from Iowa and I don't know any better. But as I hang out here at homerecording.com "I'll learn my lessons well". "You know ya' can't please everyone, so ya' gotsta please yourself"

Later,
Jay

An Elvis impersonator? God, we musicians will do damn near anything for money just to spend it the next day on an exotic mic. Welcome friend.

Yeah, this is the HHR University. You will learn a lot here!

Nobody will rag on you for getting a -001. You might get a little flak on modellers but no biggie. I almost bought a -001 myself after getting a Digi marketing video on it. I was really impressed at the time but in the end I got a Delta 1010.

Have fun here.

oh hell, it wouldn't be an HR welcome unless someone did this:

WHAT? A POD? they suck, you need a real tube amp!

actually, I use a J-station AND a real tube amp. They both have their place. But tubes are tubes are tubes.

Thanks, cstockdale. I thought it'd take forever for someone to slam me. I was beginning to think I made all the right decisions....I feel at home, now!
