Ok,

I remixed my song "Wait and See" directly from my four track to my hard drive and used Goldwave to try and get rid of some of that offensive hiss. I also did some other things and panned and eq'd a little differently.

I even goofed around with Goldwave's reverb a little bit (it's kind of fun but easy to overdo).

Any tips, criticism, advice, insults, record deals etc are very welcome. And thanks so much for listening and helping me get better.

Tucci

Sounds much improved. Are you now (meaning new stuff that you record) recording direct to HD or still using tape? Use the mixer on the tape deck and go straight to HD.
No more tape hiss to deal with....

Thanks for checking it out Doc.

Did the echo sound Ok? I wasn't sure if it was going to sound kind of corny.

No, I'm still recording on tape with my 424 because the only computer I have access to is used by like three people and the hard drive doesn't have enough space for all the wav files. Plus, I live upstairs and the computer is downstairs in a tiny office etc.

But, I am mixing down all my songs direct from my 424 to HD and I've been able to pretty much get rid of the hiss. I'll post some of my newer stuff in a few weeks probably.

thanks again

Tucci

Wink

Some interesting sounds in there.

Is that you tapping your hand on muted guitar strings?

Yeah, this sounds much better without the hiss. and it's a more clear and defined mix. The echo isn't too cheesy. I really like the sparseness here.

Well thanks for listening fellas.

MrLip, no that wasn't me tapping on muted guitar strings but that is a good guess. I am kind of embarrassed to say what my percussion intstruments actually were but I guess might as well tell you. After all this is homerecording! The thump sort of sound was a coffee can covered with a rubber bicycle intertube and the shaker sound was a tuna can also covered with rubber and with little beads inside of it. I had my microphone actually touching the coffee can drum.

One of these days I'll post a song that has my patented "Banjo Reverb".

Thanks again,

Tucci
