bass poweramp

my friend already has a cabinet, but needs his own power amp...right now hes running on the pa power amp through a behringer mixer....but, he would like to get a bass pod as his pre amp and a power amp obviously to power him up. is there any power amps out around 250 watts suitable for bass, for like 300 bucks? please give me some advice we;d like it better sooner than later

I have used a Carvin 300 watt head for a similiar
situation and it has worked well for live stuff.

I have seen some of the pro's using Mackie Power amps as well.

It has been a while but I believe my Carvin head was less than $300 and it versatile with the bridging option for one higher output channel or I can biamp with tow chanels.
