spikes on adats while recording.

I'm getting some very loud spikes when I record on my adats. I've checked almost everything. Is this something that happens to alot of ppl? Do the heads need cleaned or what? using three Fostex RD-8's. I just noticed it more than ever. I'm usingFuji double coated SVHS ST-120. Any Takers?

If it's a blackface beware, I've seen this happen before. It's probably an internal clock issue but who knows how much it is to fix?

I have all three set to Internal. I was reading a little in the manual. What is LTC and do I have them set correctly? I have them slaved using eight pin sync cables. I didnt get these pops before. I'm wondering if all three are supposed to be set to Internal?????Help!
