digastudio- Is this the answer to everything?

Hi,

I am interested in the Gigastudio because it sounds like I can use it as a back up band.

Is it easy to edit the loops and get the bass, drummer to play some of the stuff I want it to play or will it only play what is on the sample ( straight up).

Is the best way to edit and control the Gigastudio with a midi controller? Do I need a sound Module? If so which controller and module do you recommend?

It's a software sampler. No, you don't need a sound module, it is the sound module -- or, more properly, makes a properly-equipped computer into a sound module. You need and audio interface to get an analog output out of it that you can hear, and a MIDI interface to send it MIDI messages.

As far as I know it's not a sequencing or looping tool, it's purely a MIDI-cmpliant instrument. It has patches, you select them and play them via a MIDI controller keyboard. You could run it on the same computer as a recording/sequencing application like SONAR or Cubase and use them to build up your backing tracks, but Gigastudio by itself is merely a software MIDI instrument.

I was hoping it was along the lines of a jam box, or band in a box, where I could selct a rock bass line and a drum track and modify them. I have an aardvark q10 which I'm guessing is the interface you were talking about.

I am a newbie to all this computer recording stuff. It all seems so confusing, but I know there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, the tunnel seems to be pretty long though.

The tunnel is long. And worse yet that light is on oncomming train.
