Question Can you sample in sonar 2.2

I want to sample some pieces of a song in sonar and I don't know if that is possible or not. Wound you guys recommend a different sampling software? Which one?

Any suggestions would help.

Thanks

You can record any audio that you can get in there at any length you want, but there is no provision for using that bit of audio as a building block to be used in any samplers (as in sample-playback synths). You could certainly build up a song using such snippets and editing them one by one to appropriate lengths and pitches but if you're talking about creating a sound set to play via a keyboard, SONAR is not an appropriate tool

What AlChuck said, but when you have a sampler, use Sonar to play it. And it sort of comes with a sampler if you buy the XL version. The DR-008.

You can use Cyclone to chop up and play the samples.

Can you trigger the samples with a midi keyboard in Cyclone, or invest in a external sampler?

You can trigger samples with Cyclone , but if you want more control over your samples you should get a "real" sampler such as VSampler 3 or DR-008 bundled with the XL version (actually DR-008 is a dedicated drum-sample player, but can be used to play all kinds of samples).

An alternative is SoundFonts. If you have a SB Live/Audigy you just need Vienna to make some soundfonts and use them with your SB-card.
