Connecting preamp in stereo or mono?

I've just purchased an Audiophile 2496, my first "real" soundcard. It has two input jacks, which can function as two mono, or one stereo input.

Here's my question: I have a single mic preamp (VTB1), which works in mono. Should I split its output and connect to both the inputs on the card? Or is there a reason to run just a mono signal?

Thanks for any advice,
Drew.

Use it in mono. Signals you'll be recording will be in mono unless you have a special stereo mic.
