Weird, weird cables!

I was going to a hospital this morning and my aunt was driving us. Her step-son is the one who sold me my 16-track Audiopro board. Anyway, she handed me back these cables and told me that he was giving them to me.

It's sort of strange. Basically there is a thick gray covering and at one end 3 separate XLR cords come out of the grey covering and on the other end 3 separate quarter inch jacks come out. I can take a picture if you guys need it, thanks,

On the 1/4" side, are they balanced or unbalanced?

Sorry, I don't know, is there a way to tell by looking at them?

Does it look like a mono or a stereo connector?

Dammit! I used to know the difference. They are a silver colour.

Look at the connector and discribe it. Is there only one tip or is there a small ring before the tip?

There is only one band of black. Like a guitar cable I guess.

Remember this handy rhyme:

One band of black - plug in the back

Two bands of black - 3 headed Jack

Those are just the cables for your triangulator. Whatever you do, DO NOT use them on the phase regulator.

What are those? What could I use this for on my mixer? I'm pretty sure would of used it himself when he was using it. Here is the back of my mixer next to where all the mic XLR are etc are.

Sounds like a snake built for hi impedence mics. Most all decent mics from the SM-57 on up are low impedence. The way it sets, it wouldn't be of much use to me anyway. If the individual cables have two conductors and a shield I suppose you could replace the 1/4" connectors with XLRs of the opposit gender of whatever XLRs are at the other end. Or replace the XLRs with 1/4" and use it line level stuff.
