Would I benefit from a mixer if.......

I were to purchase a Tascam US-122? After buying it I'll have about $100 left over to spend. I was wondering what benefit (if any) having a mixer as well as a 122 would have.

Can you even use both together, seeing how the 122 has built in mic pres? The only thing I could think of would be to use the mixer (6 tracks or whatever) to save settings. You know, set one for bass, two or three for guitars, one for drums etc.

any input is highly appreciated.

You can use the mixer for multiple inputs, and will be very helpful while tracking.

Thanks for the reply. Please pardon the dumb question (one of many more to come) but how would I hook it up to do this?

My only recording expirience has been on my Zoom MRS-4.
