Looks like a genuine late 50's, early 60's "Walkman"!

Though, the older Ampex 350's would be four times bigger and 5 times heavier and yet, still be classified as a portable!

I think I'll keep my Panasonic SV-250 Field recorder DAT! it's about the size of a paperback novel.
