XV-3080 Performance Mode - Any Good?

I havea chance to pick up an XV-3080 dirt cheap. I want to use it in performance mode, 16 channels with a patch on each channel for live use. Do the patches take a massive hit when in performance mode like the JV series did? How many fx can you use at one time in performance mode? Any help, information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Performance mode is decent on the XV 3080. Roland allows you to steal polyphony from unused channels to add to active channels. At 128 voices, that's 8 default voices per channel. That should be good enough for most chores. In fact, I've rarely used 16 different instruments at a time.

As far as FX, you get to use a max of 3 FX per Combination. One reverb, one chorus and a multieffect. You can add as much or as little of each effect to each individual channel. If you can get this piece for dirt cheap, go for it. It's one of Roland's better products with the stereo waveforms and 6 outs. The reverb is also improved.
