Smile 8 Track Reel-to-reel

Hey guys, I'm getting into Analogue recording and am starting from scratch. I've got rough ideas of what I'm gonna get (thanks to the great people on this site!) but I'm not sure about what 8-track recorder to get. I can quite easily buy a Fostex E-8 Multitrack recorder for around $200 - $250, or a TASCAM 32 for around the same mark. Which one is better? OR should I be avoiding these like the plague?? I don't really want to spend much more than $400 on a recorder though..........

Any thoughts are much appreciated....

Thanks.

Both would be fine entries into reel-to-reel tracking. The most important part is that all channels work, and that the head isn't worn too much.

Thanks for that. I'm probably going to get the TASCAM first. Cheers for the assistance guys.
