loss of guitar signal

I'm a newbie, but not extreme, so thought I'd dare to ask:

why would my acoustic guitar tracks drop in volume when the
other (voice) tracks kick into the mix? Possible hint: I f'ed around with compression levels w/o knowing what I was doing.

Second question: why would a burned CD pick up one but not all tracks of a mastered program? Thanks.

If two mixed signals are fed into the same compressor at similar volumes both would be turned down equally by the compressor. But if one happens to be quite a bit louder than the other, the compressor could react to that one (keeping it's volume more even) while lowering the quieter one. Check out a search on 'Ducking'.

Just a guess -You might have to select or highlight each track to export them?
