Disc Makers Format Questions
I've mixed a bunch of songs for a band and they have chosen Disc Makers to do the matering.
Disc Makers say they accept CD-R format (among others) for thier mastering process. Is CD-R a format that I can produce on my PC? I may be wrong, but should this disc be a DATA CD? Is there anything else I should be aware of before I hand this band a finished disc and say it is the correct format for Disc Makers? I thank you... |

Ok, I guess Disc Makers is some kind of company.
You know... Instead of assuming things I think the best thing to do is to just ask Disc Makers. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you out. |

What they're going to want is an audio CD. It's recorded on a CD-R, yes, but unless you are contracting DiscMakers to do some sort of post-production work on your music ("mastering", which is different from "glass master"), all they do is check the disc for errors, then make a glass copy of it, and burn a bunch of copies.

I believe the intent is to have them do mastering - not just making a glass master.

In that case, I strongly urge you to reconsider. DiscMakers does not do a good job with mastering; I've heard several projects that went through there, and the best I could say about them was that the volume levels were similar. A real mastering engineer is well worth the investment.

Per Jack Endino, check out Eddy Schreyer at Oasis Mastering and/or John Golden at John Golden Mastering if you want a real good job...
