considering getting a little more serious about monitor speakers i can afford some quality but not top shelf i am in australia and thinking of around au $1500. doing live recordings of rock,bluesy type stuff. were not worthy.......

Yorkville YSM-1P (active) or the YSM-1 (passive) are very usable and nice on the budget.
Tannoy Reveals are also good candidates as are JBL LSR25s. I personally like the KRKs (I use V8s).... V6s are similar. You can also try the Events, but I find them a bit mid-shy for my taste..... And if you have more in the budget, Genelec, Westlake, and Adam are excellent brands. The most important thing is to find monitors that suit YOUR ears - everyone's different, so opinion is far less useful in monitor selection. |
