Ambient synth effects

Does anyone know the song "57 channels and nothing on" by the boss ?
(the fist version without the news footage etc..)
there is this ambient synth effect that I'm trying to obtain ...

are there any sf2 soundfonts or plugins or SW packets whom might pull that off?

I'm thinking in the line of xphrase or NI 's Pro53 can they do that is it worth looking in to

I have a cheap midi controller but the sounds on that thing sound casio all the way
thanx in advance

I thought that was the Dire Straits...?

If you have a cheap MIDI controller it doesn't have any sounds so it can't very well sound like anything at all. Get a sound module and learn to edit patches or get a softsynth and try to make your own sound. I am not sure of the sound you are looking for but rest assured that there are no casio type sounds in any cheap MIDI controller.

No it's Springsteen. I don't recall the sound on the tune but you can get some cool ambient sounds by slowing down and/or reversing other patches. Sometimes a routine noise can be pretty ethereal when you mess it up.
