That's a compromise that really works in your favor when trying to prevent outright theft of your full quality signal right from your webserver. I'm convinced that 96Kbps .mp3 quality is good enough to give listeners an idea of what it's supposed to sound like without giving away the whole CD quality file
and it requires only 10% of the bandwidth required to transfer the file in a given time frame.
