Problem in MIDI Connection
ok here we go...
Anybody whos familiar with old Roland GR-1? It is a guitar synth. I have a soundblaster audigy with a built-in virtual MIDI controller. This MIDI controller uses its own MIDI sound source like the GM bank. But I want my Roland GR-1 to be my primary sound source for the MIDI controller. How do i connect the MIDI connectors to the computer? And how do i set the options/ parameter of both the soundcard and my Roland to make it work? IM not going to use the default GM bank from the soundcard. my point is i wanna play sounds from the roland to the virtual MIDI controller? regards

First off, I've never liked midi-joystick converter cables, but that's what you need to connect. Good luck getting it working.
What midi program/sequencer/recorder are you using? See if this link helps any. http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/9111/grlinks.htm |

Quartz audiomaster. but its not that, coz my virtual MIDI controller uses the same mechanics as my software studio. ive already connect the MIDI joystick cables from the MIDI in and MIDI out of the roland to the MIDI joystick port of the soundcard. but i dont know how to set the parameters.

Sorry... I'll defer to someone more familiar with your specifics.
Do you have midi send and recives enabled and set to the right channels on all hard and soft devices? That's about my most constructive advice with your setup. Sorry.![]() |
