i wanna know how to pronounce neve, phonetics would say that the first e is said how the letter e is pronounced when saying the alphabet. But who the fuck would name their company after themselves if their name was nEEve.

It sounds much better pronounced "Nev"

Personally, I like to say "Telefunken" whenever possible. You can use it in everyday conversation. For instance, when your daughter is going out on a date with some guy you really hate, you can say to your wife....

"Telefunken boyfriend he better keep his hands to himself or he's toast!"

New-man is closer to being correct although a little bit of: Noy-man is in there too.

I pronounce it: Noy-man because I'm sick and tired of being corrected by everybody.

I can categorically state that the correct German pronunciation is "NOY-MUN":

NOY as in Toy
and MUN as in Gun

= NOYMUN

I always thought it was closer to 'mahn', like almost the way they pronounce CNN anchor Paula Zahn's name, except with a slightly shorter a. The 'a' being pronounced like the 'a' in car, perhaps.

Du sprichst aber gut deutsch! Nope, the pronunciation "mahn" already exists in the language. Neumann literally means Newman (as in Paul). And the double 'n' on the end of 'mann' means it's pronounced extra short. Your german's not bad, but you wouldn't pronunciate the inroduction a wife and husband as Frau und MAHN, would you? It's Neumann. Neu as in BOY and mann as in GUN.

Say out loud BOYGUN, then NOYMUN and you've got it = Neumann

This could really differ by region too. Do germans from southern germany speak with a drawl? Would the northern germans argue the pronounciation with the southern germans, like is done on some words by yanks and rebs here?

It's really a very subtle sound. American pronunciation of words like "Deutsch" is very heavy on the "OY" sound which makes it sound more like Yiddish or Plattdeutsch. When Germans say the word Deutsch it's a very subtle sound that "can" almost sound like they're saying "dutch" therefore the confusion calling the Pennsylvania Dutch.
I can't write it phonetically but the "eu" grouping has the "oy" sound in it but it's not the heavy way thet the Yiddish say it and when pronounced quickly usually sounds like a blend of the "oy" sound and the "oo" sound. Not the same way that you'd pronounce an oumlot(sp?) but much softer. Let's not even get into the "ch" sound which is pronounced both wet and dry depending on where you're from. If anyone really cares.
