I'm jealous! I still have a building tied up in court that I can't move into just yet. Or not at all. heh-heh.

This is true. I haven't signed onto this BBS (or the tascam BBS) in a long time.

What's all this about your place being in legal limbo?

The short version is I purchased a commercial building, three stories, all open inside, that was built with a cement wall in the middle, across the short side. Approximately 6100 sq feet in all, so i rented out the larger side to a friend with a machine shop, and intended to use the 3000 sq ft side for a commercial studio.

All was well, I contacted John Sayers, he sent preliminary overview designs I liked very very much, we discussed price, and right around that time I was slapped with a lawsuit challenging ownership of the building.

Essentially, the commercial building was a warehouse, the original owner died and left the building via will to his son who couldn't make the mortgage payments, and I snagged the building from the bank dirt cheap through mortgage foreclosure.

Turns out the guy who thought he inherited it didn't inherit it, but rather his younger brother inherited it. *HE* could have made the payments, so he's suing me, his brother, and the bank. So far the court system has jerked all of us around delaying, more paperwork, etc.

As John had stated on the phone a while back, the company that did the title search insures their work, therefore liable that they had the wrong name on the title. So if I lose the building, I get my money back from the titling company. This in itself is not a problem, except that they won't payout until the lawsuit regarding ownership is settled. So, I have a ton of building supplies, gear, and an old pickup sitting on "my side" of the building for right now, and I'm collecting rent from the other side.

I've put the building plans on hold because it would truly suck to waste my time and Johns, as well as approximately $300K to build a world class studio, then lose it because of these ignorant monkeys. So, I've rudely blown everyone off and using my half of the facility to store e-bay purchases, building materials, and the aforementioned truck until this is resolved.

Been a fun year. lol

Man. That's a shame frederic. I was aware of your project from your earlier postings; had no idea this was going on. You should hang out more often.

Seems to me that if it was under foreclosure, and you bought it up from the bank, its a done deal.
Once attorney's get involved, things really go to hell!

I shall be hanging out more often. For a while my "day job" was reorging every month or two, so my work related travel has been excessive. Well, any is excessive, but thats not the point!

Things have calmed down now, so I can participate more.

And regarding the "done deal" comment you made, thats what my attorney is saying. However, that doesn't stop monkeys from suing me over this. Technically, I could sue you because I don't like your name. Eventually, it would get thrown out of course, but it would annoy you and require you to acquire counsel.

Heck, some lady won 10 mil for burning her crotch with hot coffee, so that should illustrate how lawsuits don't necessarily have to be based on pure logic.

I was more excited then words could portray. And, I was ready to plunk down money to work with one the best designers I have seen, so it was even more exiting.

It will all work out, whether its this place, or another place. Just a matter of time.
