which effects to get?

my emo/hardcore band is recording.. and we have been using digitech rp100 and 200 for distortion...

but someone over at the fostex forum told me that we didn't need to use those for that.

I've heard alot of great things about some of the effects units.. and I want to get one specifically for my recordings.

I have been looking at the POD, V-AMP, and the J-station

for the kind of music we play, which one would be more well suited and the better value. Keep in mind all I want it for is good emo recorded distortion.

I'm must be so un-hip that's it's amazing that my pants stay up. What is emo anyway?

I've got a J-station and I love it! I've been able to dial in tones from SRV to Metallica with the help of my spectrum analyzer (it lets me see the sounds). I've played around with the POD pro a little and I don't think it's as useful as the J. I'm sure that others will disagree. I've never tried out any of the others. I'm happy with the J.

Emo stands for 'emotional'. It's like punk rock singing about their girlfriends instead of people oppressing them.

I have a bass pod and the efx on it are pretty lame.I've heard the same about the guitar pod.Mainly designed to be an amp modeler. If you need efx get something else.

Digitech GNX2 is really nice, I use it for newer guitar sounds and effects. However my POD Pro is my fave, couldn’t live with out it !
