Behringer V-Amp Vs POD

i have played both... i find them very much the same in features however there is a matter of standard and the line6 standard is far above behringer.

I think we all know that behringers bread and butter is making kncock offs of other gear. So you need to decide if you want the real deal or little brother. Will it make or break your playing swhould you go lil brother? I doubt it... just depends on what you are doing and how picky you are.

I do find the v-amp to have much more noise than the pod.

The thing that may sway it is that ive had a loan of a POD for a while now and put a few good sounds into it etc,so that MAY convince me.
The RACK POD is SOOOOOOOO expensive though huh?
Unbelievable it is! 3 times the price almost!
i havent even tried the POD XT but id be happy with the basic one.

I have both and prefer my V-AMP2. I use it for Recording, Rehearsal, and Live. My next step is the V-AMP PRO.

For the price of a POD you could purchase the latest Behringer Combo Amp called the V-Ampire LX1-112. They are new so not everyone has them in stock. Check out BPMmusic or zZounds.

I haven’t used a V-amp but use a Pod pro all the time and absolutely love it.

I find if I initially get a cheaper alternative, I eventually end up selling it at a loss and buying the real deal. The end result is that I end up spending more than I would if I had just gotten the real deal in the first place.

May be it is the gear snob in me but Im always after the extra 5-10% !

its really going to be ideal for takin abroad to gigs if i get a POD set up,,,although iwould LOVE to have a powerful reliable combo to use at local gigs so i could stop carrying the Marshall half stack around all the time.

I have a POD, J-Station and A V-Amp2.
I like them all and find them to have approximately the same sound quality basically.
I Like the V-Amp better for cleaner stuff......I like the POD better for Soldano type stuff.....I love the fact that the J-Station has three bass amp models in it.
I use the V-Amp the most but that's mainly 'cause it's sitting right there and I'd have to walk into the next room to get my POD, which tells you how little a difference there is.
I think a lot of it has to do with whether you use pre-sets or not. If you know what sounds you want and how to work a real amp to get them, then you'll be able to tweak any of them to get the sounds you want.

ONE THING THOUGH:
The V-Amp seems a little flimsy compared to the other two.
The POD and the J-Station have nice heavy metal chassis. But the V-Amp is plastic and you can actually feel it flex when you plug things into it. So althouggh I think the sounds are just fine, you'd best carry it carefully. Make sure it's well packed and don't let the roadies fool with it. It's definitely not roadie-proof.

My amp is basically the same thing as the POD, except in the form of a full guitar amp. (Flextone II XL) The tones on it are great and the effects are really smooth. I tried using it to record direct-in, however, and I wasn't too pleased with the results. It sounds much better if it is used as a processor through an amp. SOmthing about the actual sound coming out of a REAL speaker that makes direct guitar recording a bit muddy.

do u kpow anything about the Spider amps? those are obviously the cheapest of the range,,but ive never heard one.

yeah I messed with a Spider before I bought my flextone. It actually doesn't sound too bad. Pretty good in fact. The problems lie in the way it is set up. You can't tweak the settings very much because muiltiple effects are built into one knob. There are no line outputs or anything. The whole thing is just kind of budget. However, if you are looking for a budget amp, it sounds better than any other budget amp I have heard.

I've played with both of those two and I really think the v-amp is a better deal. Sure you have to deal with the fact that behringer quality control sucks, but so far I've exchanged every disfuncional piece of behringer stuff for one that works quite well. My main concern with it is that it is quite a weakly constructed unit. The left input is broken in some way that it bends around a lot and shorts. I could probably fix it if I were less lazy, but apprently im too lazy. Im really happy with it though, its pretty easy to get any sound you want out of, and It really makes a weak amp sound good. Also, the fact that you get a case and a pedal included makes it a much better value than the POD.

its that very fact that it MIGHT break or bust in some way that worries me. The POD can break too im sure,
but its construction kinda inspires confidence in it you know?
It so sturdy that you think it could cope with being dropped once or twice. i think i WILL go for the POD,,,eventually.

My Pod has been dropped from several different heights, it's had a Sunn tube head fall on it, and it's been through the washing machine, thanks to my two-year old son (and no, I'm not making this up). After all that, it still works fine. (I did have to do a factory reset after the washing machine fiasco). So I would say it's easily the most durable effect I've ever owned, except for maybe my original Rat pedal.

I rather optimistically took the POD along to the rehearsal tonight,,and took along a couple of external pedals i got with my Boss GT3 that id never used. a sustain pedal and an expression pedal. i had hoped that maybe i could use on or both of them til i could get the 4 way footswitch.
Imagine my face when isaw the very odd lookin input on the back of the POD.
What the heck is that all about?
its like a pc connection.

Having tried both these units I find you get what you pay for. The Behringer is very digital sounding and tends to sound fizzy when using it for distorted sounds. It's a little better on clean settings. The Pod is more realistic sounding but you have to work with it to get the best out of it. Most of it's presets are awful. The Pod sounds good when recording but I find it next to useless going through an amp, definitely wouldn't use it for live gigs.

The odd looking input is for connecting the floorboard foot controller......a worthwhile (if somewhat expensive) addition if you're gonna be using it live.
However, if you've been using a half-stack.......I have to doubt you'll be happy with the POD for live usage. I agree with morindae about that. I use Fender amps and on the occassional gig where I use the POD for convenience or space reasons,.....it never satisfies me. I can get by with it but that's all.

well i bought the FB4 today for £59,,2nd hand. I bet its cheaper than that brand new in the states.
i will have a go at sorting out the sounds i want in the correct order tomorrrow, and hopefully it will be cool for me to use in Germany at the weekend. I DO use a half stack Marshall live at home,,but i never know what i will be usisng at festivals and gigs abroad so i think the POD will be the very thing for those occasions! The half stack i use at home is set clean anyway,,and i use nt Boss GT3 with that.
Its actual ot capable of overdrivong the amp,,even i f i wanted to
so ive no choice. thanks for all the posts folks,,,all i have to do is save up for my OWN POD when i can afford it now!

My wife bought me a V-Amp for my birthday. I've always wanted to try one but I figured it would be a toy. Looks like a toy. I mentioned it to my wife and she just up and bought it. I'm actually impressed with this little toy. It actually has useable sounds. Sounds much better than the modeling in my Korg recorder. Some of the stuff is cheesy ( Auto Wah ) but there is far more capability in it than I imagined. Even the effects aren't bad. A LOT of tonal choices. It's made me pick up my old Mustang again. I've got a humbucker in the 'stang and there are big differences in the tone among the single coils and the humbucker. I've never mic'd any of the amps modeled and never will so I don't know how close it gets, but I've listed to a LOT of guitar music in my life. Some of these models actually sound like guitar amps. The gain will crackle on you if you overdrive it some. Somebody said "fizzle." But if you set it right it's pretty smooth on some of the amps. Amazing little toy for $140. Just think what they'll be able to do in 10 years.

Just as an aside, you might think about one of the SansAmp modeling boxes. I had their GT-S, sold it, bought a J-station, totally regretted it, then bought a Trademark 10 (little combo amp that has the GT-S built into it) and life was good again :-)
