good book for learning recording?

ok, so Im the epitimy of laziness and hate working...I also HATE books with a passion...unless their picture books haha but I love music and am very serious about recording... what book would you reccomend me to go out and get to help me learn setting up a studio learning to record etc.? let me hear your ideas and suggestions...thanx

There are a bunch of them out there. I used "The Musicians Guide to Home Recording" by McIan when I first started. It has good techniques, lots of pictures, and also gets into a bit of acoustics for managing your control room or tracking area with ideas that are cheap and easy to manage.

There is also Craig Anderton's "Home Recording for Musicians". I've always like Craig's writing and approach to stuff but haven't read this one.

Another option is "The Dummies Guide to Home Recording" which looks like a really basic book.

There is also a series of "Basic" books by Paul White that are tiny books (50-60 pages) that cover a variety of different recording topics like basic recording techniques, basic mixing, basic effects processors, etc.

Blackrock- FYI this is the Studio Building Forum. That means it mainly concentrates on CONSTRUCTION of studios. There is an entire BBS with seperate forums for the other aspects of recording.

This topic would best fit in either the Recording Techniques Forum, or (more likely) the Newbies Forum.

I like the Newbie forum. People ask very good questions there and almost every answer is hepful. Its a pretty understanding forum. I usually can't get there fast enough to answer a question before someone else already has.
