room isolation
hey, i've been recording for a while but one of my biggests probles is everyone in the neighborhood are getting mad about the drums.
i want to soundproof it or something. the goal is to reduce the biggest quantity of noise to be heard out of the room. im on a low budget...so what would yo recomend? the stuido consits of 2 rooms in my basement here's the first one http://homerecording.com/bbs/attachm...&postid=801452 and this is the other one (i just removed the desk and the books from there, now its all clean) http://homerecording.com/bbs/attachm...&postid=801458

You have two options:
1) Invite the neighbors over and teach 'em how to play drums. They'll have visions of being the next John Bonham, go buy drums themselves and think your cool ! ! 2) The thing about soundproofing is that it's done with "density" and or "dead air space". This is not to be confused with "sound absorbsion". The best advice I can give you is go to the web site for Auralex Acoustics and read " Acoustics 101" there's a wealth of info on this subject there. Here's the page. http://www.auralex.com/main.asp |

Here's the Bible on room treatments that work.
http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html Here's John Sayer's recording site. Be sure to check out the BBS and the forums on treament. http://johnlsayers.com/index.html There are some other sites, too. But this is the stuff you need to seriously soundproof a room. |
