Hi Mojew,
Broadcast wav can be used if you want to transfer your Sonar project to a different sequencing program like ProTools. For all other exporting purposes (like burning to CD) just use the Riff wav format. Best regards, Scott -- Scott R. Mr. Garrigus had general hint
You may want to export as Riff Wave format usualy ![]() Riff : Resource Interchange File Format The difference you hear might be caused by different "encoder algorithm" being used to export them I never really hear the differences, but in rare case, you may hear it slightly....can you explain in plain English, Jaymz ? Hmmm... how about this... right click, and save this target (.pdf format)... ![]() Jaymz ps. I assume you have Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the document ![]()

There's no difference in the way the two sound (or at least, there shouldn't be.) The audio data is not altered in the rendering of a BWF. The only difference is the addition of one chunk of metadata, changing only the extension of the file, for the purpose of platform recognition.
Listen again...is there really a discernable difference? mark4man |

Do normal media players play broadcast wavs? And what about burning to CD -- can you use a broadcast wav as a source file?

I thought that a Broadcast Wave could be played in any player, the player would just not read the extra information...

I just tested it: Windows Media Player and Winamp just plays it. Nothing extra-ordinary happens...

Yeah...
...& I owe an apology to mojew. I bounced a composition to stereo wav in both formats...& there is a sonic difference! That is strange. mark4man BTW - Burnt them both to CD; & listened to them both in various media players...without a hitch. |

this is a rather interesting thread... does the 'sonic' differences come in to play when you export individual tracks?

Hmmm... it seems the difference can be more than just a header.
