Angry Monitors question

I'm about to buy a pair of monitors. The thing is that there are too many brands and models that one can never decide which one.

I have seen this at musiciansfriend
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/248149/

but I'm not so sure about Edirol MA monitors. Besides, the advantage is that for 300 $ I could get lots of good stuff; though I liked Behringer Truth monitors and Alesis One...

Should I get the pack??? or a couple of Behringer...?

I have never heard of Edirol. The Alesis get a bad rap around here and from what I have read I wouldn't recommend them. That leaves us with the Behringer... Hmmmm

...consitering misiciansfriend has discounted it and then put it on sale tell of it's popularity :P

monitors is a tough question IMO... one word of advice is that if you buy a low end pair like I did (M-Audio SP-5B) then don't forget to stuff a sock in the reflex tube in the back... though you'll lose low freqs. it'llbe less muddy...and even the best speakers approximate so know their limitations.

Yorkville is nice, and not too expensive. Check'em out.

Monitors are really key when you're doing recording and so it is worth it to get a good pair. Edirol are not good. I have heard one pair of them before and they sounded like crap. I just bought a pair of Event TR5 actives and they are awesome. They're $299.00 for a pair at musiciansfriend and they're worth every penny. If you can't afford those right now, save up. Monitors are one of the last places that you want to cut corners.

I'm pretty sure Edirol is Roland...or same owners or something. Those monitors sell for somewhere between $120 and $140 from what I've seen. I haven't heard much about them though. But any monitors are better than headphones for mixing! If you don't want to shell out another $80 or more to get some better monitors, go with these. The other thing is though, the mics you get with that package aren't especially great. You could get better ones for the money, in my opinion.
