Questions for midisport 8/8 owners

I have couple of questions :

1. Is there a particlular sequence that we have to follow when we change modes..????
Like power first, then keys, then computer
OR first the program, then the keys etc.

I ask because every now and then when I switch from one mode to another---it goes crazy. All 5 lights(USB,PC,MAC,TEST, THRU) flash non stop and then I have to shut everything down to start over again. Is this normal? and just one of those quirks you have to deal with?

2. If I stay in the USB mode, then the remote control patchbay does not work. I am connected to the PC via the USB cable.
Strangely enough--when I am in PC mode, the settings set in the remote control patchbay take effect. why is that?

3. Even while I am PC mode and the settings from the patchbay software are in effect--should the lights for the in/out channels stay on throughout? or should they flash only when I hit the keys?
