Can you tell ACKUS to start a new track as a Stereo track?

When I have opened an audio project with new empty tracks and imported stereo waves, they load as a pair of L/R mono tracks.
I started a new project, deleted all the tracks, then an imported (stereo) wave loaded as a stereo track. Default seems to be mono. Is there another way to select a new track as stereo?

Oops. I think I may have figured out another way around this. If there is only one open track (or maybe none), it might do it.

My tracks are always stereo by default. It's irritating, really...

Just the opposite?
Ok, that was completely unexpected. And that would be a PITA. And it would seem you have the worse of the two problems.
I only run into it when I'm trying to force ACKUS to be my 2-track editor.
