Stereo Mixdown Process

Im not sure if Im just having trouble locating my brain or what. Here is my problem.
I have a Delta 1010 and a Soundcraft M12. I use CEP2.
Here is a scenario.
I have 4 tracks of recorded material on my harddrive. I use the Delta 1-4 OUT channels to carry them to the mixer (where they are mixed). I have 2 XLR to TRS cables (L&R) which go from the Monitor Out on the M12 to the Delta 7-8 IN channel. I press record (the 4 recorded track are now audible in the cans) in CEP2 and I get nothing recorded. I have the monitor level, fader level, gain level, etc. up...but nothing. How do I get a stereo mixdown to record?

Thank you very much

Are the cans plugged into the mixer? Cause it sounds like you not getting the signal to CEP.

I'm not familiar with CEP, but there has to be a way to select the recording (input) source. Do you have that set to "Delta 7/8 Stereo?"

BTW, are you doing anything to the mix when you route it back out to your mixer? Otherwise, why aren't you just doing a software mixdown?

The cans are plugged into the mixer. I agree no signal is getting to CEP...

I had selected the input as Delta 7/8 stereo.

I am mixing the raw tracks on the mixer...to me - using a board is much easier and satisfying than using a mouse

Thanks...

Well, some more dumb questions then...

Let's start working backwards:

Are you getting a signal on 7/8 in the Delta software mixer?

Do you have the volume control for your "monitor outs" on the hardware mixer turned up?

Are the 4 Channels carrying the mix on your M12 assigned properly?

In other words, we know the signal from CEP to your mixer is working - since you can hear the mix in your cans. Therefore we need to trace the signal from there to the monitor outs, to the sound card, to the software. See where the breakdown is occurring, which should help in figuring out what is causing it.

I figured it out - and yes - I forgot my brain at the front door. Immediately when I got back home I noticed the obvious yellow faders for the L & R Mix...I feel like such a fool...although I guess thats what a bunch of late nights do...you just lose it....

Well - thank you alot for your help. I appreciate it.

Glad you worked it out. Faders all the way down tend to work against the signal flow, huh?

Well, at least you had the power turned on.
