is that card on the confrrimed media list that fostex releases every few months? if not, that could be why.

The only other thing I can think of might be a cable connection, were any of the wires moving while you were recording? Sorry...just a shot in the dark.

Question

no, but I discovered today that it only happens when I record while listening to a previously recorded track.

That doesn't really make it any less weird. You might want to take the thing back for a fresh one.

Unhappy

Last weekend, we experienced the same problem on a Fostex D1624 recorder. We recorded 8 tracks simultaneously and then tried to record some additional guitar tracks. But that appeared not to be as simple as we thought. ....

During playback (in record mode, to record the additional guitar track), the song skipped at a certain position. The problem persisted exactly on the same spot during multiple playbacks. OK, we copied the song to another program, but the problem was still there.

We decided to record the first 8 tracks (simultaneously) again and then try again. So we did. On EXACTLY the same spot, the tracks skipped during playback. We did some experiments and we started the recording with first 30 sec. silence and then touched our instruments, but the problem appeared on the same spot again ! This was weird !!!! So the problem in NOT time-related, not program related and not related to a single recording.

We could only conclude that it has something to do with the postition of the song (a kind of a hidden beat count ????) or some information overflow which was related to that specific song. We did not experience any problems with the 4 other tracks we recorded (same procedure -> 8 track simultaneously and then we added some guitar tracks.

Who has an explanantion ?

Finally, we managed to record the additional tracks by splitting it into 2 sections. Pre-skip and post-skip. Slogan Man (songtitle) needs some additional vocals, so we're looking forward to meet the skip again. Will Slogan Man strike again ?

Please help !

skz,
I just read the post from 57 chevy and it got me thinking....try re-formatting your CF card and see if that does anything.
Chevy,
I don't know anything about a d16 to even make a suggestion other than try another area of memory.
