What sound card are you currently using ?
The mixer should have stereo outs that will tie to any card.
But if you want to record the tracks simultaneously and have the tracks seperate within the software you will need a card with multiple inputs. Otherwise, all the tracks will be recorded together on one track within Logic.

Question

Why would someone "buy" Logic (which costs ~$400) and not have any idea of how to get tracks into the PC. Wouldn't the demo version of N-Track be a better purchase?

You need a multi-channel DUPLEX soundcard to record multiple tracks at once.

Echo Audio, Delta/MIDIMAN, Hammerfall, Lucid, Apogee and others all make multi-channel A/D D/A converters.

Patch your INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL DIRECT OUTS from your mixer into the inputs, patch your outputs from your converter into the remaining line-ins on your mixer.

What's your budget for a soundcard? Expect to pay a minimum of about $500US for a decent 8 I/O soundcard.

I have an Echo (formerly Event) Darla 20, and have had my eye on an Echo Layla24 for a couple years. They run about $625 new on Ebay.

I'm glad someone saw my point!

Hmmmm, I'd like to start playing guitar, think I'll break into Sam Ash and steal that D45 they have - Now how do I tune the thing?

Hope you're using a Mac. e-magic don't support PC any more. Something to do with Apple buying them. Get an Audiowerk 8. Used.

pasta - I think everyone is well intentioned, and some of the banter doesn't always come across as intended. Speaking as a newbie myself, though, I do sense the frustration of those with experience who see the same old basic questions posted time and time again, when a search of this magnificent board would provide the answers. It's unfair to expect people to put themselves out when a little effort on the part of the questioner would provide answers in abundance.

Best of luck to you, and read the Logic manual - it's very good. It also contains the answers to your questions.

Cheers

Garry

No support for 6.0 and up. They do however still sell the PC version up to 5.5
