Replacing older soundcard, help!
OK, I've got an Echo Mia that will be my primary input device, but the system I have has an old Aureal Vortex 1 in it, and based on what I've read, it is not the best choice as a midi controller in WIndows 2000. I can replace it, but would like to find a decent basic soundcard with a rock solid midi interface. I can spend a little money, but as a guitar player, I can't afford an arm and a leg... maybe just a leg.
So, in WinK, what soundcard would you choose as a midi controller to pair up with an Echo Mia card? TIA, BrainCase

You could throw in a cheap SBLive ($30) along with your Mia - (I've been running an SBLive with my Mia for 1.5 years primarly as a midi and soundfont synth), but if all you want is a midi interface, get a dedicated one to go with your Mia.
I put in a Midiman USB 2x2 in my computer last year just so that I would have an interface that did not tie me down to a soundcard or single computer. Works like a champ and I've had zero problems with it. |
