Question Studio Projects B1 or MXL 990

I am looking for a QUIET LDC mike and I've heard good things about the Studio Projects B1 and the MXL 990. Low noise is important to me as is good quality for voice over work. Any experience with either of these two? Preferences? Low noise is a very important consideration...

In the under $100 ballpark... you should also checkout out the Marshall MXLV67G. Also do a search on this board and you'll find much info on the mic's your seeking. For example... type in B1* or 990 or V67 and etc. If I could only own one of these three mic's... I'd take the MXLV67G, and if I could only own either a SP B1 or MXL990... I'd take the SP B1. I own all three of these mic's and of course the above comments are my opinion.

Had an opportunity to hear both in a good studio. Both are good mics.

My personal choice was the B1.

Can't go wrong either way.

Try to get a dealer to let you audition both.

Good Luck.

Smiles from Florida.

I own both and find it a VERY easy choice to go with the SP B1. Frankly, I don't see how the 990 gets talked up. I was quite disappointed with the 990 when I finally got a chance to record with it.

Hey DJL, I'm not sure how much shipping is on the thing, but I'll try and find out this week.
