Can I hook stereo speakers up directly to my 880??

I'm not sure if this is the best place for this question....

I love the portability of my VS880 (and my 424 4trk)....but the one problem has always been portable monitoring.

I usually monitor through headphones when I'm not recording at home......which is O.K......but I have like two extra sets of stereo speakers collecting dust and I thought......."hey, why dont I just hook up some RCA ends to those and bring them along when I go mobile???"

But then it occured to me about impedence issues and powering...

Is this possible???..........or even safe for my decks???

NO......

unless they are powered speakers. The line outs on the 880 are not amplified, you would also need an amplifier, not to mention if you are recording you'd probably get so much bleed from the sound source that headphones would be preferable.
