Unhappy Elco snake problems..........

On my 1/2 return channel, the signal is much stronger on one side. Not on any-other channels. My ADAT (XT-20) says the output is equal (say if the same thing is on both tracks) but on my mixer I need to pan hard right to get equal.

It would not be much of a problem, but I use 1/2 A LOT, with my computer mixing and computer programs to monitor. I would think this would be a mixer problem because I have a really horrible mixer (Eurorack mx 1604a), but my snake has been giving me static ever since the beginning (built up). Is this normal? Please don't say I need a new snake...................

Sounds like a bad connection... I would blame the snake...

Cable and connection can deteriorate over time - it's just the way it is... cheap cable tends to degrade faster than the good stuff, but even the good stuff can oxidize and cause connection issues over time.

hum......

Thanks Blue Bear,

I think I'll just buy two 1/4" to RCA cables for return 1 and 2. It might be a little more noise, but hey: I don't want to buy a whole new snake right now. But a question I have is:

Will they output the same volume? (RCA and ELCO together)

No - the levels will be different....

The RCA's on the XT20s output at -10dbV, the Elco outputs a +4dbu signal.

There will be about a 12dB difference in level between them.
