Help im new to midi

Ok, I just got a studiologic CMK-149, I know they suck. But I dont want to use the software with it, I just want to use what I have "FM7, Pro-52, and fruityloops3" to use". But the thing is I can get the damn thing to work! I m not sure if im doing it right. Im all about the garage band, and just want a new medium to experiment with? Can any one help?

Doing what right?
Does it work with any program?
How do you have it hooked up?
Have you set up your programs to recognize the port and channel?

If your wanting to use the keyboard to trigger the Pro52 and FM7 samplers then tie the midi out to the midi in of the soundcard or whatever interface your using. You will need to setup the software to recognize it. The recorded midi data can be played back using the Pro52 and FM7 as the playback devices.
