zoom 1266

I just bought the Zoom 1266,upgrading from an analog 4 track. This is the first digital unit I've used.So far I've been really happy with it,but don't have any thing to compare it to.My complaints are the drum machine is a bitch to program, compared to my Boss DR-670 ,the Zoom does have better drum sounds. The bass sounds suck, but I use a real bass anyway. The display screen is hard to see,I have to stand directly over the unit to make out the screen or tilt the unit to about a 35 degree angle if I'm sitting. The owners' manual is very basic, all 200 pages of it.Samson tech has been very helpful answering my ?'s by e-mail.All in all the Zoom unit has speed up the recording prosess for me and I'm really diggin' it.Does anyone else have this unit and what are your thoughts about it?

gleason is on a distinguished road
Have you tried using the display thumbwheel to adjust the display to make it legible from different angles? I haven't had a problem reading mine.

You probably already know there's a ZoomMRS list on yahoo.
Most owners on the ZoomMRs list like theirs too.

I would just leave that internal drum machine alone. If you like the sounds I bet you can trigger them from your Boss machine. Try synching the drum machine to the zoom. you could save a couple tracks that way and take your time programming a custom beat.
