EQing Assistance Needed!
First let me start by saying that I have NO idea what I'm doing when it comes to EQ. I've tinkered with it before and it's always made the song sound more crappy than when I started, so I kind of decided to not touch it. I really don't know how to make instruments "fit" in the mix. I just record and there it is. I'd love some help for those who could offer: tips, suggestions, resources...whatever. I've got a tune I wanted to use as an example...
SONG:I_believe.mp3 URL: http://bob.birdsallinteractive.com/ ...I've had it on the mp3 board lately and have gotten a couple suggestions. Any help would be great! Thanks! |

Dude, you do a good job of promoting your music.
I gotta' hand it to you. 1) Try jacking the bass up a bit. 2) Download a spectral analyzer, and learn to use it. www.brainspawn.com This will give you a good idea of where the various instuments sit within the frequency spectrum . . . as well as the overall balance of the mix as a whole. After you learn how to use it more, it can give you some ideas of where to start boosting if you need more bass, for example, or if you need to cut and/or compress a little of the high end . . . Which I'm guessing might be of help with this particular example of yours. |

thanks Chessrock!
This time I wasn't intending to promote my crap. I just wanted to use it as an example...but I never miss a chance! I'll check out that spectral analyzer...Thanks! |
